To achieve the main objective, three specific objectives were developed; to assess the effectiveness of training and development on human resource performance, to assess the effect of training methods offered on human resource performance, and third was to determine the effects of different types of training offered on human resource performance at the Tanzania Port Authority (TPA). Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews from a sample of 120 randomly selected respondents. Data were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Science and the findings are presented using tables and figures. Qualitative data from interviews were analysed using the thematic analysis method. Results revealed that training of employees successfully improved the performance of the workers. Moreover, the results showed that out of five ways in which employees were selected for the training, the use of performance appraisal results has been most effective at TPA.</em></p> Gladness R. Specifically, the research assessed how inventory management techniques, staff inventory control abilities, budgetary restrictions, and the regulatory environment that supports pharmaceutical management techniques all affected management practices. 150 respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique, the study adopted a descriptive research design to establish the relationship between the studied variables. The quantitative data were descriptively analyzed and the results indicated that pharmaceutical inventory management practice scores were both positively related to regulatory framework budget constraints and inventory control systems. Pharmaceutical inventory management practice was influenced strongly by 0.965 in the presence of regulations and very lowly influenced by 0.047 and 0.028 for budget constraints and Inventory control systems. There was a negative low influence on pharmaceutical inventory management practice by 0.030 in inventory control skills. The study found that manual inventory control systems were used. There was dissatisfaction among users on the procured pharmaceutical products. The study concludes that a pharmaceutical inventory management system needs to be streamlined by introducing modern inventory control systems like barcode scanners and Radio Frequency Identification.</em></p> Ame O. This study investigated the effectiveness of Tanzania's property tax collection mechanisms by assessing the effectiveness of property tax collection methods, the regulatory framework used in property tax collection, and taxpayers' attitudes toward property tax collection. A sample of one hundred taxpayers and TRA officials were used in a descriptive research design. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data and ascertain respondents' opinions regarding Tanzania's efficient property tax collection methods.</p> <p>The study's conclusions demonstrated the following: comprehensive registration, monitoring, and follow-up on property tax payments by all owners of taxable properties was the most effective regulatory framework of property tax collection, followed by adequate monitoring and follow-up of TRA/LGAs by the central government; property taxpayers had a positive perception of property tax payment methods; and automatic deduction of property tax payable by the house/buildings when purchasing LUKU was the most effective property tax collection method compared to other collection methods followed by centralization of property tax collection to TRA. The study concluded that the most efficient ways to collect taxes are to send property tax bills and control numbers to taxpayers via their mobile phones, automatically deduct property tax when buying LUKU, and centralize tax collection to TRA rather than to LGAs.</p> Jasmini Ally Sereri, Hawa I. The study was conducted in the United Republic of Tanzania, focusing specifically on commercial banks listed in DSE. The study population comprised eight financial reports of commercial banks listed in DSE from which a sample of five commercial banks were purposively selected. These financial reports served as secondary data sources for evaluating the effect of dividend pay-out policy on the stock price performance of the chosen banks during the period spanning from 2016 to 2022. Employing a correlation research design, this study adopted a quantitative research approach, and data analysis involved a combination of descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, supported by statistical software STATA. The panel data regression models of Fixed Effect and Random Effect were employed to analyse the panel data. The results of Hausman test were used to select the best model, where Random Effect model were found appropriate. Findings reveal that the cash dividend pay-out ratio has moderate and positive relationship with stock price performance. Likewise, Cash dividend pay-out ratio is statistically significant at 5% significance level in influencing the stock price performance at equal magnitude. This implies that the dividend pay-out ratio has significant effect on stock price performance, the fact which concurs with signalling theory. The increase in dividend pay-out is associated to increase in stock price performance and the decreasing dividend payments weakens stock price performance. The study recommends Tanzanian banks adopt a balanced dividend approach, considering financial stability and shareholder expectations. The study was conducted at the Institute of Accountancy Arusha, Dar es Salaam Campus. The study used an explanatory sequential design with a sample of 75 respondents for the quantitative phase and 5 respondents for the qualitative phase (total sample of 80 respondents). The study used secondary data for the quantitative phase, the data were tested for normality by using the Shapiro-Wilk test, and they were found to be normally distributed. The analysis was both qualitative and quantitative by using content analysis and Pearson correlation respectively. The findings show that there is a moderate positive correlation between continuous assessment and final score for basic technician certificate in accountancy students while for the ordinary diploma of Accountancy year one students’ score had insignificant correlation. The findings also have shown that factors such as the effectiveness of assessment plans may dictate the correlation between the two. The study recommends that for continuous assessment to predict good performance of students in final exams; tests, and assignments should be composed basing on the assessment plans to make them stronger in establishing correlation between Continuous Assessment and Final Examination.
