Instructions for Authors

The Journal of Informatics (TJI) welcomes the submission of high-quality, original manuscripts in the field of Informatics and related disciplines. Before submitting your manuscript, please read and follow these author guidelines carefully.

1. Submission Overview

  • Authors must register and log in to the TJI website before submitting.
  • Only original, unpublished work not under review elsewhere is accepted.
  • Manuscripts are subject to double-blind peer review.

2. Manuscript Format

Authors must format their manuscript as follows:

  • Language: English
  • Font: Times New Roman, size 12
  • Spacing: 1 line spacing
  • Alignment: Justified
  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
  • Citation and Referencing: APA style (7th Edition)
  • All references must include a DOI or a valid, accessible URL where available, except for printed books and very old sources that have no digital version.

3. Structure of the Manuscript

Your paper should typically include the following sections:

  • Title Page (with title, author names, affiliations, and contact email)
  • Abstract (150–200 words) with keywords (3–5)
  • Introduction
  • Objective(s)
  • Literature Review
  • Methodology
  • Findings/Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion and Recommendations
  • References

4. Metadata Requirements (MANDATORY)

To ensure efficient processing, indexing, and publication, authors must accurately complete all metadata during submission.

Important: Incomplete or incorrect metadata is a major cause of delays and may result in the manuscript being returned for correction.

a) Title Information

  • Prefix (Optional): Use only when necessary (e.g., “A Study of…”).
  • Title (Required): Must be clear, concise, and descriptive.
  • Subtitle (Optional): Include only if it adds meaningful clarification.

b) Contributors (Authors Details)

All authors must be correctly and completely entered in the system.

Critical Requirement:
  • Do NOT enter only one author if the paper has multiple authors.
  • Use the “Add Contributor” button to include all authors.

For each author, provide:

  1. Given Name (First Name)
  2. Family Name (Last Name)
  3. Email Address (active and valid)
  4. Country
  5. Affiliation (Institution and Department if applicable)
  6. ORCID iD URL (e.g., https://orcid.org/xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx) (strongly recommended)
  7. Principal Contact for Editorial Correspondence
    • Select ONLY ONE author (Corresponding Author)
  8. Include this contributor in browse lists?
    • Must be checked to ensure visibility in published articles

c) Keywords

  • Provide 3–7 relevant keywords.
  • Enter each keyword separately and press “Enter” after each term.
  • Avoid repeating words already used in the title.

d) Metadata Accuracy Requirement

  • Metadata must exactly match the manuscript content.
  • Ensure all authors approve their details before submission.
  • Incorrect metadata may affect:
    • Indexing (e.g., Google Scholar, databases)
    • Author recognition
    • Citation tracking

5. Plagiarism Policy

TJI maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy on plagiarism. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection tools. Submissions exceeding the acceptable similarity threshold will be rejected immediately.

6. Ethical Considerations

Authors must adhere to academic integrity standards. Submissions must:

  • Acknowledge all sources and contributors properly.
  • Declare any conflicts of interest.
  • Include ethical clearance where applicable, especially for empirical research involving human participants.

7. Submission Process

  • All manuscripts must be submitted through the TJI online submission system at:
    https://journals.iaa.ac.tz/index.php/tji
  • Ensure all required metadata (title, abstract, keywords, references, etc.) are entered accurately.
  • Only one submission per article is allowed. Revised versions must be submitted through the editor's communication.

8. Review and Publication Process

  • Submitted papers are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.
  • Authors will be notified of editorial decisions (acceptance, minor/major revisions, or rejection) via email.
  • Accepted papers will be edited, formatted, and published in the next available issue.

9. Article Processing Charges (APC)

Currently, no fees are charged. TJI is an open-access journal sponsored by the Institute of Accountancy Arusha.
